Healing from Traumatic Birth and Loss

Birth does not always go as expected. Every parent experiences birth in a unique way depending on background and personality, and nobody else can tell you whether your birth was traumatic. Parents who had a traumatic birth experience might have painful, undesired memories of childbirth that are difficult to get rid of. It might feel as though childbirth was something that happened to you, rather than a life event in which you felt empowered and transformed.

If you are struggling to make peace with the birth of your baby, especially if your birth involved trauma or loss, know that Dr. Pearce has attended many births and sat with parents through both joy and sorrow. You will find a compassionate, listening ear when you seek postpartum therapy to process grief and begin to move forward from a traumatic birth.
